This article is spectacular. Thank you for writing this. You are right about caste among South Asians. It exists in all religions here. I would like to add something. The Ambedkar Buddhists are called Navayana Buddhists and it is Ambedkar's version of Buddhism. This might be the only religion that boldly and explicitly calls on the destruction of Caste perhaps in the world.

Jews and Zarathustrians are not typically immune to caste. Internationally, by what I have read you cannot become a jew by converting to Judaism. You should be born a Jew to enjoy the status of a Jew.

Zarathustrians form a very minute part of Indian Minorities. Their population is concentrated in the states of Karnataka and especially Maharashtra. They are also victims of the disease called Casteism if the Bollywood film 'Being Cyrus' is accurate.

You are on mark about the interrelationship between caste and racism. Easily, Indians are one of the most racist people on the planet with our affliction with fair skin. This is demonstrated by the kind of business the fairness skin products are making out of Indian fair skin obsession.

South Indians, and North Easterners have often narrated the stigma and trauma that they had to go through from the so-called Aryans concentrated in the Northern Hindi speaking Part of the country.

There was a famous movement called Pasmanda Movement in North India against Casteism in general and Casteism among Indian Muslims in particular.

Christianity in India have a long history with Casteism. The Roman Catholic faction of India considers themselves upper castes and treats the Latin Catholics and others as lower castes.

It was a great read Ranjeet Tate. Thank You for writing this precise and solid piece.
