Well written but the Casteist angle of the crime needs more stress. The rape of the Dalit woman was done by upper caste Thakurs. The perpetrators are going to get away because Thakur is the caste of Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister.

Being a lower caste, I hope the opposite would happen but hey this is India we are talking about! I don't know whether you know it, the next two days saw another two rape cases of Dalit women by Thakurs in UP. Both of them were as brutal as this one if not more brutal.

You missed another detail, the tongue of the raped woman was cut so that if she lives she wouldn't have a tongue to speak.

The Hindi-heartland is known for caste-based crimes. Rape is used as a social tool of punishment to oppress Dalit-Bahujans (lower caste people) who speak up against the Savarna (Upper-caste) hegemony of India. Feminist movements are not enough. Destruction of Caste begets anti-caste movements. Destruction of caste begets its admission, not ignorance.
